Welcome to
Johnson Angus
Johnson Angus is a fourth generation family farm, and was homesteaded in 1904 by my great grandfather, John Engelmeyer. My grandparents, Joe and Mildred Engelmeyer, operated this home place for many years raising cattle and operating a feedlot. In 1993 my parents, Myron and Carol Johnson, took over as the next generation raising Angus cattle. This is when the AI program started along with building a strong commercial herd from proven genetics and selling bred heifers for many years.
In early 2000, I, Jesse made the decision to move home and start taking over as the next generation. My wife, Kim, and I have 5 beautiful daughters, Brianna, Elle, Trystan, Kirsten, and MaKenzy, whom all have been an active part of this farming and ranching operation. We are very proud of the help and support they provide to keep moving forward.
It has been our goal to continue building on the past, while making the present stronger and investing in the future of our cattle operation to produce a more productive genetic line of Black Angus sires and females. After a few years of seeing the genetic improvements of our herd, my father and I made the decision to start selling our bulls by private treaty, thus starting Johnson Angus.
In 2019, I decided to buy the first registered heifers from Dan and Lyn Forgey. We have been building our registered herd since then. In 2023 with the help and guidance of Dan, I started our ET program. In 2025 Dan and I decided to join together and created Johnson Forgey Angus. Our first annual bull sale will be April 1st, 2026.
